“The universe is not made up of atoms; it’s made of tiny stories.”
I hail from the deep South, and come from stock that includes citrus farmers, railroad engineers and circuit preachers. I grew up running barefoot through hot sand in an orange grove. I grew up riding bareback on mean little ponies. I grew up eating fried okra and cornbread made in a skillet. And I grew up listening to stories. Stories that were told around a dining room table that was always covered with a stiff linen tablecloth and always had a large dog sleeping underneath it.
Now, I cannot grow grapefruit or drive a train (and the jury is still out as to whether I might preach a good sermon.) I certainly can’t cook like my grandmother. I can, however, tell stories. I am a writer. I am a journalist. I am a storyteller.
From anchoring and reporting the news for ABC, NBC and Fox, to script writing and directing documentary films and corporate videos, to creating digital content in every form - you name it, it’s likely that I’ve been there and written that. My list of clients includes eBay, Yahoo, Amazon, Hugo Enterprises, CNBC, Gap, Aljazeera, Genentech, PBS and CNN. I’m known for finding the heart in every story, and consistently delivering fresh and surprising interviews.
Everything has a story. Everyone has a story. And all stories are unique. But I believe that within each tale lies a whisper, a quiet notion, that has the potential to thread us all together. And it is those moments, when individual and universal meaning intersect, that I live to tell.
So that’s my story. What’s yours?
